What Is the FAR CPA Exam?

The FAR CPA exam (Financial Accounting and Reporting) is one of the four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination. It tests a CPA candidate’s ability to understand and apply financial accounting principles used by for-profit entities, nonprofit organizations, and state and local governments.

The FAR section focuses heavily on:

  • Financial reporting under U.S. GAAP
  • Transactions and financial statement analysis
  • Governmental and nonprofit accounting

Because of its breadth and depth, FAR is often considered the most challenging CPA exam section.

Testimonials

I was very close to passing FAR after multiple attempts and needed some assistance to get over the hump. I saw Vishal's profile and was very interested in working with him. Vishal created a customized study plan and offers small group classes for each module. He makes difficult concepts easier to learn by going over multiple examples. He is also very patient when we have additional questions. [...]

Vishal’s prep really helped break down the more difficult concepts when I was taking FAR. I was using Becker, but no matter how many times I reviewed some of the areas, I just couldn’t grasp the concepts. Vishal came highly recommended and I took a chance and used his prep course. His notes really explained the concepts that I didn’t understand. I highly recommend his course if you are having difficulty [...]

Melissa Kennedy, July 2022

Pre Vishal, it took me 9 months to pass AUD on my 4th try. Then another year to pass FAR after my 5th try. This meant my 18 month window was quickly closing. At this point, I wasn't confident I could pass the rest of exams in the time I had left. Passed REG with an 81, on the first try, after working with him for ONLY 6.5/7 weeks. The MCQs felt easy on the exam it scared me. [...]
